Bajaj has launched a total of three variants of Chetak in India – Chetak 3501, Chetak 3502 and Chetak 3503. After the success of Bajaj’s old 29 series Chetak electric scooter, you can now buy Bajaj’s new 35 series electric scooter. The company has made major changes in the new 35 series Chetak electric scooter. In the earlier Chetak, you used to get the battery on the seat, due to which you got less space for keeping luggage under the seat, but the company has redesigned the frame of this scooter and fitted the battery in the floor board like Ola and Ather electric scooters, due to which you get more boot space. In Chetak 3501, you get a new generation powerful 4Kw direct driven motor with a big 3.5kWh battery. You get a touch screen, long seat and the special thing is that Bajaj Chetak 3501 gets On Board Charger. Let’s know in detail.
Bajaj company launched the Chetak scooter with petrol engine in 1972, in the year 2005, the company stopped the production of Chetak scooter, this scooter was the first choice of Indians, you could get Chetak petrol scooter for less than Rs9000 in the 90s, when the era of electric vehicles started, Bajaj also launched the Chetak electric scooter in 2020, this electric scooter was also successful, because people already had faith in Bajaj company as well as Chetak scooter and this electric scooter was India’s first electric scooter to be available in a strong metal body like before.

If we talk about the design of Bajaj Chetak 35 series electric scooter, then from outside this electric scooter looks like the old 29 series Chetak Electric, but the company has redesigned the frame of this electric scooter, earlier the battery of the old Chetak electric scooter was found slightly below the seat, which gave you less storage, but in the new 35 series Bajaj Chetak, the battery has been safely fitted inside the floor board, in appearance this electric scooter is the most classic looking electric scooter available in India, the steel metal body of this scooter makes it special, the design of this electric scooter is inspired by Italian scooters, the scooter feels very premium, solid metal has been used to make the body of this scooter, in this electric scooter you have been given a newly designed High Strength Tubular Steel Frame by Bajaj, the front look of the scooter has been given to you as classic, in front you have been given the signature style LED Projector Head Light of Chetak Electric, you get the Chetak logo in the light, you get LED DRL lighting on the border of the same light Yes, you have turn indicators in the front panel only, you do not get a separate tail lamp on the rear side as well, you have Chetak’s logo on the rear side and turn indicators are given beside it, inside that you get tail lights, in Chetak 3501 you get side mirror signature shape along with body colour, due to this the look of the scooter comes out, you get Chetak’s badging on both the side panels of Bajaj Chetak, in Chetal 3501 special edition you get special Chetak graphics due to which Chetak 3501 looks the most premium.
The new Chetak 35 series gets alloy wheels at the front and rear, there is a comfortable floor board for keeping the feet and luggage in the front, because you get 25mm more wheelbase than the previous Chetak, in the Chetak 3501 you get a 5 liter plus glove box in the front, in Chetak 3502 and Chetak 3503 you get two pockets in the front, in the scooter you get a comfortable stylish grab handle at the back along with foldable foot pegs, in the new 35 series Bajaj Chetak gets a longer and more comfortable seat than the previous Chetak, now you get a large storage of 35 liters under the seat, so now you will not have to worry about less storage, a big size helmet along with some luggage will fit comfortably, the special thing is that in Chetak 3501 you get On Board Charger, due to which you do not need to carry the charger, in 3502, 3501 you get Off Board portable charger.
Currently you get three variants in this Electric Scooter, in Chetak 3501 Special Edition you get six color options Brooklyn Black, Pista Green, Indigo Mettalic Blue, Matte Red, Matte Charcoal Grey and Cyber White and in Chetak 3502, Chetak 3503 you get a total of four color options Brooklyn Black, Indigo Metallic, Matte Coarse Grey and Cyber White.

If we talk about comfort then Bajaj Chetak 3501, Chetak 3502 have front and rear alloy wheels with 12 inch tubeless tyres (90/90 -12) + (90/100 -12). The front wheel has a 220 mm disc brake and the rear wheel has a 160 mm drum brake. Chetak 3503 gets front and rear drum brakes. If we talk about suspension then all the variants have Side Mounted Mono Spring suspension which is available in the old petrol Chetak and Side Mounted Mono-Shock Spring suspension is also available at the rear but the riding experience is going to be very smooth. In Chetak 35 series you get a slightly longer and more comfortable seat than the old Chetak but Chetak 3501 Special Edition gets a slightly special seat. At the rear you get a comfortable stylish grab handle. The KERB weight of this scooter is 134kg. If we talk about ground clearance, you get 160 mm.

If we talk about the features, the new Bajaj Chetak 35 series electric scooter has a lot of features, in the Chetak 3501 TECPAC variant, you get a FOB key remote which provides keyless entry and in Chetak 3502, Chetak 3503, you get a physical key, the special feature of Bajaj Chetak 3501 is that you get an on-board charger which Bajaj has fitted in the scooter itself, so you don’t have to carry the charger, this electric scooter has two ride modes – Eco and Sport, it achieves a top speed of 40km/h in Eco mode and 73km/h in Sport mode, you get features like reverse assist, hill hold assist, fall detection, geo fencing, app connectivity, music control in Chetak 3501, Chetak 3502, you get a 5-inch TFT touch screen in Chetak 3501 whose touch sensitivity can be adjusted, There is no Touch Screen in Chetak 3502 and in the base variant of Chetak 3503, you get the old round shaped instrument cluster. For connectivity, you get Bluetooth which is used for real-time diagnostics along with smartphone connectivity. This scooter has all the sensors that meet the new European regulations. In the front of Chetak 3501, you get a USB port for charging your smartphone, which is not available in the other two variants. Talking about the other features, the battery and motor of the new Bajaj Chetak 35 series electric scooter are IP 67 Water Resistance. If we talk about boot space, you get 35 liters of under seat storage in which you also get boot LED lighting. In Chetak 3501, you get a 5.5 liter glove box in the front. In the rest of the mid and base variants, you get front pockets. In Chetak 3501 and Chetak 3502 variants, you get 2 hooks for carrying luggage.
You will get TECPAC and STANDARD variants in Bajaj Chetak 3501 and Chetak 3502. In TECPAC you will get features like Eco and Sport mode, Full App Connectivity, Hill Hold. In STANDARD Chetak 3201 you will get only Eco mode. In STANDARD Chetak 3202 also you will get only Eco mode. You will get speed up to 63 kmph but for TECPAC variant you will have to pay ₹5000 more.
Power :
If we talk about performance, then all the variants of Bajaj Chetak 35 series are provided with a 4 kW powerful efficient side mountain PMSM motor. This scooter gives you 2 ride modes, it gives a Top speed of 40 Km/h in Eco mode and 73 Km/h in Sport mode, which is enough for a city commute vehicle.
Battery :
If we talk about the battery capacity, then all the variants of Bajaj Chetak 35 series come with a 3.5KWh Weather sealed Fixed LFP Li-ion battery, which Bajaj has securely fitted in the floor board in its newly designed body frame. For charging this battery, a 950W on board charger has been fitted in Chetak 3501, so that you do not have to carry the charger with you, you only get a 5A charging cable. This on board charger takes only 3 Hr to charge the scooter from 0-80% and in Chetak 3502 and Chetak 3503 variants, you get a separate off board charger which takes 3Hr 25 Min to charge the scooter from 0-80%.
Range :
If we talk about the range(Mileage), then in all the variants of Bajaj Chetak 35 series you get a 3.5Kwh battery, due to which you will not see any significant difference in the range. In a single charge, the IDC range claims to be only 153km in Eco mode, but if we talk about real range(Mileage), then you can get a range of 117km+* in Eco mode, if you drive Chetak 3501 in Sport mode, then you may get even less range(Mileage), but still the real range(Mileage) depends on the load and in which mode you are driving it, and whether one person is driving the scooter or another person is riding behind you on the scooter, it depends on that how much range (Mileage) Bajaj Chetak 3501 will give you.
Price :
If we talk about the price, you get a total of three variants in Bajaj Chetak electric scooter, Chetak 3501 and Chetak 3502 have TECPAC option for which you will have to pay ₹5000 more.
Chetak 3501 variant is available to you at ₹1,27,243/-* Chetak 3502 variant is available to you at ₹1,19,999/-* ex-showroom price, you can book it by paying ₹2000, the price of Chetak 3503 base variant has not been revealed by Bajaj yet, but you can get this electric scooter at ₹1,07,999₹/-* ex-showroom price, its booking will start from January 2025.
Warranty :
If we talk about warranty, on Bajaj Chetak 3501, 3502 and 3503 electric scooters, you get a total warranty of 3 years or 50,000Km on motor, battery and vehicle, which you can extend further under the extended warranty plan, which is a very good thing.
Opinion :
All the variants of Bajaj Chetak 35 series provide good value. In Chetak 3501 special edition you get premium colours and real range of 117 Km+ along with many features, on board charger is available, in Chetak 3502 you only do not get touch screen, on board charging, Fob key and in Chetak 3503 base variant you do not get features like smart touch screen, disc brake, on board charging, fob key but if these features do not matter to you then you can go for the mid and base variants or you can buy Bajaj Chetak 3501, it would have been great if Bajaj had improved the suspension in its new 35 series electric scooter, it seems that Bajaj has increased some confusion by introducing TECPAC variants, or you can go for other electric scooters available in the market like Activa e, ABZO Sigilo, Activa QC1, Ampere Nexus.
