Kinetic DX and DX Plus electric scooters launched in India, and everyone is liking them at first sight, but there is a big drawback!

The look of the Kinetic DX is quite inspired by the old Kinetic Honda DX, but you can say that this is the new-age Kinetic DX. You must have heard of the name Kinetic Company; you must remember Kinetic’s iconic Honda DX scooter in the 1990s, which came with a 2-stroke petrol engine. Kinetic India launched electric scooters looking exactly like it. The company has launched two models, Kinetic DX and Kinetic DX Plus. These electric scooters are going to be liked by everyone, and bookings for these scooters have also started and are getting booked fast. What is the difference between Kinetic DX and Kinetic DX Plus, and what are the pros and cons of these electric scooters? Let us know in detail.

Design:

Kinetic DX is really a premium-looking electric scooter; there is no doubt about it. The build of this electric scooter is really muscular; you get a solid metal build like a petrol scooter. If we talk about the design of the Kinetic DX, then this electric scooter gives a very unique look from the front. You have been given a big LED projector headlight in the front, which is similar to the old Kinetic Honda DX; next to it, you have been given arrow-shaped LED turn indicators. On the top side of the headlight, you get Kinetic’s branding, in which you also get an LED light glowing, and below the headlight, you get Kinetic’s logo, in which you have been given light, which you can call DRL light. The mirror shape of this electric scooter is also different, due to which it looks a little different. At the back, you get a big LED taillight, in the middle of which you can see the Kinetic branding logo; on the side of the same taillight, you get the rear turn indicators.

This electric scooter uses a solid tubular steel frame, and most of the body is made from high-quality metal sheets. You get DX+ badging on both sides of the rear of the scooter. This electric scooter has 12-inch wheels. In the Kinetic DX, you get a 220 mm disc brake in the front and a drum brake in the rear. Both the models of Kinetic DX have a long, comfortable, and large seat. In this electric scooter, you get a battery pack inside the floorboard, which is non-removable. In Kinetic DX Plus, you get a total of five bright premium color options, due to which these electric scooters look different. Black, blue, red, white, and grey, and in Kinetic DX, you get only two colors, black and grey.

Comfort:

If we talk about comfort, then in Kinetic DX and DX Plus you get a comfortable and wide floorboard, due to which you can carry a big cylinder or water can in the front. 12″ + 12″ wheels are given in the front and rear; Kinetic DX and DX Plus have disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear. If we talk about suspension, then you get dual hydraulic telescopic suspension in the front, and dual spring suspension is also given in the rear, which you can adjust in 3 steps, which makes the ride very smooth. In this electric scooter you get a comfortable, long, and wide seat of 714 mm; at the back you get a comfortable grab handle. For keeping feet, you get aluminum alloy foot pegs with an easy foldable automated flip. If we talk about ground clearance, then you get 165 mm.

Features:

If we talk about features, then all the basic features are given in the Kinetic DX electric scooter, but in the Kinetic DX Plus you are given some more features, which we will see later. You are given a total of three ride modes in both the models: Range, Power, and Turbo. In Turbo mode, the top speed of Kinetic DX is 80 km/hr, and the top speed of Kinetic DX Plus is 90 km/hr. In both these electric scooters you get keyless entry; that is, you are given an EASY KEY, and you will be able to unlock the vehicle by entering the PIN.

You get an 8.8-inch iconic negative LCD colour instrument cluster. Along with this, you are also given built-in speakers. For connectivity, you have been given Bluetooth in Kinetic DX and DX Plus, and you have been given all the sensors in this scooter, which meet the new European regulations. In both these electric scooters you get 37 litres of boot space, which is the highest. Under the seat you get an LED light in the boot and a USB port to charge the smartphone. Talking about other features, you get reverse mode, hill hold, cruise control, keyless entry, single-click boot open, and an automated foot peg, and in the Kinetic DX Plus you get some more features like an onboard charger, Find My Kinetic, an anti-theft alert, Guide My Home, seat and charger opening, geo-fencing, and data analytics as extra features. You get all the important information about the scooter on your smartphone.

Power:

If we talk about performance, both Kinetic DX and DX Plus electric scooters have the same high-performance BLDC hub motor, but DX has a peak power of 4.7 kW and DX Plus has a peak power of 4.8 kW. Kinetic DX achieves a top speed of 80 km/h in Turbo mode; Kinetic DX Plus achieves a top speed of 90 km/h in Turbo mode. Both scooters have Coast tech power regen, so you don’t have to worry about speed; you get to see good acceleration in both electric scooters, and power lag is also not felt, so stop worrying about speed.

Battery:

If we talk about the battery capacity, it seems that Kinetic has been a bit stingy because both the electric scooters have a 2.6 kWh (2.5 kWh usable) LFP non-removable battery with IP 67 certification. This battery gets charged from 0 to 80% in just three hours because of Quick Charge technology. But the company should have provided a battery pack of at least 3.5 kWh in the Kinetic DX Plus. You get a special feature in the Kinetic DX Plus electric scooter, due to which this electric scooter has become a topic of discussion. You have been given the Easy Charge feature in this variant, due to which you get an on-board charger.

Range:

If we talk about range (mileage), you get to see two variants in the Kinetic DX electric scooter: one is DX and the other is DX Plus, in which you get the same 2.6 kW LFP battery, in which you get 2.5 kW usable capacity. The company claims an IDC range of 102 km in Kinetic DX, and in Kinetic DX Plus, it claims an IDC range of 116 km. Despite the battery having the same capacity, you get more range in the DX Plus variant because you have been tuned better in this variant. The company says that if you ride this electric scooter at a speed of 25-30 km/h, then you can get a range of 150 km.

But still, the real range depends on the load and the angle in which you are riding it and whether one person is driving the scooter or another person is riding behind you and the other person is riding on the scooter. It depends on how much range (mileage) Kinetic DX and Kinetic DX Plus will give you.

Price:

The Kinetic DX is available at an ex-showroom price of ₹111,499.
The Kinetic DX Plus is available at an ex-showroom price of ₹117,499.

Warranty:

If we talk about warranty, you get a free warranty of 3 year or 50,000 km, but by paying a premium, you can get extra warranty of 9 years or 100,000 km.

Opinion:

If we talk about opinion, then these Kinetic DX and DX Plus are good electric scooters, but you cannot get everything in any electric scooter. But if one or two features are less, then it is okay, but the range of any electric vehicle matters because it is the most important. Kinetic has tried to give a lot but has given you a battery pack of just 2.5 kWh; this is a matter of concern because you get at least a 3.5 kWh battery in electric scooters available in this price range. Like you get powerful electric scooters like the Hero Vida VX2 in this price range.
